Every office is different and so is the dress code. In case you need inspiration for your new year at the office, we’ve compiled a list of films with some of the best office attire to get your inspirational juices flowing!
You can’t talk about workwear without mentioning the holy grail of fashion films – The Devil Wears Prada. Andy Sachs – played by Anne Hathaway – has quite the transformation in this film and once she gets the hang of how to dress at the office, she’s pulling out and showing off look after look. She has a few somewhat traditional looks with a crisp white shirt but she manages to spice them up with great accessories. This can be a nice hat or her favorite – one or multiple long necklaces. Another staple in the book of Andy is a nice blouse, a pleated skirt, a nice long coat and of course a pair of knee-high boots.
Miranda Priestly – played by Meryl Streep – also has a noteworthy wardrobe filled with powersuits, trench coats and fur coats.
The Devil Wears Prada is definitely worth a watch for the top notch fashion!

Two Weeks Notice featuring Sandra Bullock and Hugh Grant is definitely a must-watch for the corporate girls. Sandra Bullock wears some very traditional outfits with two-pieces consisting of blazers and matching skirts with a nice blouse, shirt or pullover underneath. She keeps her palette very muted and flies under the radar in that sense, but as this film is from 2002 the fits are definitely worth giving a look.
The early 2000s classic, 13 Going on 30 is perfect inspiration for the working girls with a love for Y2K. Jennifer Garner plays Jenna Rink who, on the day after her 13th birthday, wakes up in her 30 year old body. Her approach to office wear is therefore very relaxed and youthful. She wears a lot of color and her style is also very feminine. Tweed skirts, cardigans and dresses are perfect for work if you do it right. Add some jewelry and hair accessories and you’ll be sporting the Jenna Rink look in no time.

Andie – played by Kate Hudson – in the film How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days has some incredible looks! We all probably remember the yellow dress the best, but having done a rewatch, she actually has a couple of nice looks for the office as well. She’s a simple girl and loves a pencil skirt and a nice shirt. She does however not go for a form fitting shirt – it’s a little big and contrasts the skirt very nicely. She folds up the sleeves which instantly makes the look that much more casual. If you think a shirt might still be a bit too stiff for you, she also wears a lovely open blouse with a top underneath – casual but chic. She accessorizes with a large tote big enough for the working woman’s necessities.

Elle Woods, of course she made the list. Elle Woods – played by Reese Witherspoon – is a fashion icon. A lot of her looks are worth having a peek at when it comes to office outfits – even if you don’t like pink. She adores collars (big and small), jackets and two-pieces (with skirts). She accessorizes with belts and hair accessories. She’s definitely preppy with a twist!
It’s impossible to write a guide on workwear and not mention the film Erin Brockovich where Erin – played by Julia Roberts – shows that you can in fact wear anything to work and still be really good at your job. She loves mini skirts and tight tops, but some of the items can definitely be work appropriate (in the traditional sense) if paired with the right outfit. Erin wears a lot of blouses and also wears a turtleneck at some point. Pair this with a great pair of trousers or a skirt and you’re good to go. She loves patterns and so do we! Throw on a pair of sunglasses as well and you’re Erin Brockovich approved!
